I Am Not in a Wheelchair Because I Can See My Doctors

Loretta has a severe scoliosis condition. It sometimes hurts for her to walk, and it can be uncomfortable sitting down for longer periods of time. Loretta is thankful she is not in a wheelchair. Even though she has no family in Oklahoma who can take her to her doctor appointments, Loretta can still see her doctor regularly through RSVP Provide-A-Ride. Loretta shares how much your generosity has meant to her.

It’s a miracle that I am not in a wheelchair. I can walk and get around because I have the ongoing medical attention I need. I can’t say enough about the staff and the drivers. They mean so much to me. A couple of years ago, I had open heart surgery. That is when I first needed RSVP Provide-A-Ride. For over six months, a driver came to my house and took me to physical therapy three times per week. There is no way I could have found someone to take me to my appointments that often. People are busy, and they can’t take on that kind of responsibility.

At the beginning, I tried a service that drops you off and comes back to pick you up after the appointment. There were times when I waited up to three hours for a driver to come by to take me home. The RSVP Provide-A-Ride drivers always stay with me. But it’s more than just the rides. They care; they provide so much physical and moral support. Spending time with the volunteer drivers is the highlight of my week. I don’t know where they get these amazing people. They are all so gracious, thoughtful, and kind

Did you know for a gift of only $25 you can help sponsor a ride for someone like Loretta who is in need of ongoing medical care? Many of our clients live alone or have no family nearby. For Loretta your generosity enabled her to go to physical therapy so she could regain her strength after heart surgery. Today you are helping her walk and live more independently. Thank you for giving and caring!

RSVP Provide-A-Ride has been such a blessing. What would I do without them?
