Doug is an active RSVP of Central Oklahoma volunteer who loves to know he is making a difference in the lives of others.

Doug is involved in various volunteer activities including serving at a local food pantry, as a volunteer tax preparer, and working in various capacities for Oklahoma Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization that flies veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their sacrifice.

He has traveled to Washington D.C. six different times these past several years, helping our aging WWII veterans enjoy a day held in their honor. He is also a part of the planning committee that helps to organize and schedule the Oklahoma trips for veterans.

He does all this because he loves knowing he is making a difference for others.

I volunteer to serve our veterans because it’s an opportunity to thank them for their dedication and service to our country.

Our volunteers love going the extra mile for someone in need. For them, their reward in serving is to know they have touched a life in a special way.

There is so much all around us in the news and daily life that can lead us to believe that every day our world gets a little darker. Sometimes it feels like less people care and more care a little less. But the love and compassion of our volunteers always shines brighter.

We are so thankful to Doug and all our volunteers whose passion for serving our community reminds all of us that better days are still ahead.
