With a hammer and nails John cares for the poor.

John Giger is passionate about helping others and making our community a better place. John is retired and for over 12 years he has been volunteering with Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit organization that rebuilds lives and neighborhoods by providing extensive home repairs and remodeling for low income seniors.

I picked up my desire to volunteer and help others from my dad. I saw him give so much to help others whenever he could.

He says beyond the home repairs, the real caring takes place by simply being a friend.

Most of the seniors we help are lonely and they simply want someone to talk to.

Every week, John makes ramps, widens doors, and installs new windows. With each project he undertakes, one more low income senior gets the love and help they desperately need.  RSVP of Central Oklahoma is proud to connect senior volunteers like John, and hundreds like him, each year with volunteer opportunities where they can make a difference in our community.

Finding the perfect fit for our volunteer seniors is our goal, and we work very hard to make sure we help them connect with an opportunity that not only gives them a place to serve, but also enriches their own lives as well, states Beth Patterson, RSVP’s Executive Director.

Each volunteer is truly an ambassador of care who is making a lasting impact for Central Oklahoma.
