Loretta has a severe scoliosis condition. It sometimes hurts for her to walk, and it can be uncomfortable sitting down for longer periods of time. Loretta is thankful she is not in a wheelchair. Even though she has no family in Oklahoma who can take her to her doctor appointments, Loretta can still see her doctor regularly through RSVP Provide-A-Ride. Loretta shares how much your generosity has meant to her.
It’s a miracle that I am not in a wheelchair. I can walk and get around because I have the ongoing medical attention I need. I can’t say enough about the staff and the drivers. They mean so much to me. A couple of years ago, I had open heart surgery. That is when I first needed RSVP Provide-A-Ride. For over six months, a driver came to my house and took me to physical therapy three times per week. There is no way I could have found someone to take me to my appointments that often. People are busy, and they can’t take on that kind of responsibility.
At the beginning, I tried a service that drops you off and comes back to pick you up after the appointment. There were times when I waited up to three hours for a driver to come by to take me home. The RSVP Provide-A-Ride drivers always stay with me. But it’s more than just the rides. They care; they provide so much physical and moral support. Spending time with the volunteer drivers is the highlight of my week. I don’t know where they get these amazing people. They are all so gracious, thoughtful, and kind
