Jim Buratti is an active RSVP of Central Oklahoma volunteer. He loves where he is serving, and he can’t think of a better way to spend his time—but volunteering did not start out this way for Jim.
After his retirement a couple of years ago, Jim was searching for places to volunteer on his own. He found the process of finding a good match through trial and error time consuming and difficult. Some locations were farther away than Jim preferred to drive and others were simply not a good fit. He remembered hearing about RSVP of Central Oklahoma and contacted our offices for help. Today Jim is volunteering at the Urban Mission food pantry as well as the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services and is loving every minute of it. For Jim, the volunteer referrals we provided have been a perfect fit.
You may remember Jim from television as the host of Discover Oklahoma and from his radio days as the host of the OU Barry Switzer show. Jim loves being with people and today he is out in the community doing presentations on behalf of RSVP of Central Oklahoma. His goal is to let others know that finding great volunteer opportunities does not have to be a difficult or frustrating process. It can be enjoyable with help from RSVP of Central Oklahoma.
We are so thankful to have Jim as our “community ambassador.” His passion for RSVP of Central Oklahoma is personal, and he is happy to tell others the good news that volunteering can be a wonderful and rewarding experience.
I am now enjoying volunteering. I feel I am getting so much more back than I what I do because I have found my perfect fit.
